For best results, read all instructions and hints carefully before beginning.



 
 
 


Preheat conventional oven to 350 degrees.
Wipe down cake pans before use.
Grease bottoms of cake pans with butter, margarine or cooking spray and dust lightly with flour.
Place individual cake pans onto baking sheet.

 
  Be sure to wash hands. Cooking can be messy work. You might want to wear a smock or apron.

 



 


Combine chocolate cake mix, 1 egg, ΒΌ cup water and 3 T oil in small bowl.
Stir with spoon until well blended (about 50 strokes). Divide batter evenly into heart pans (about 1/3 full).

T = Tablespoon

 



 


Bake for 18-20 minutes.
Cakes are done when toothpick inserted into center of pan comes out clean.

 



 


While baking, design your Cakes on paper. Be kind to your Valentines. Draw happy hearts, sweet smiley faces, and fancy flowers!

 



 


Remove baking sheet from oven and cool completely.

If you wish to remove cakes from pans: cut around edges, hold waxed paper over cake and invert onto flat surface. Center plate over cake and flip once more. Now you have a smooth surface to design your Valentines!

 




 


Mix dry frosting with 1 1/2 T warm water in small bowl. Whisk until smooth. Spread frosting over cakes to creeate a dreamy white canvas. To tint your frosting, see the HINTS section.

 



 


Shake the decorating pens to evenly distribute icings. Cut tips from icing pens to form small openings.

 
 


Say-it-special to those you love! Use the icing pens to personalize your Valentines. Draw darling designs and add sweet sprinkles to seal your cakes with kisses.

HINT: It may be easier to decorate your cakes in the pans. Plus, your sweet treats make great gifts!

HINT: You can tint your frosting using the icing pens. Place desired amount of frosting into a small bowl. Squeeze a bit of one icing pen into the bowl and stir up a sweet new color.

HINT: For smooth, shiny surface, allow frosting to set and become firm (about 10 minutes in refrigerator).

HINT: It may be tempting to save your magical masterpieces, but these chocolate cakes are best eaten the day you make them.
