For best results, read all instructions and hints carefully before beginning.

  Preheat conventional oven to 325°.
Grease baking sheet with butter, margarine or cooking spray.

Be sure to wash hands. Cooking can be messy work. You might want to wear a smock or apron.

Combine sugar cookie mix, 1 stick melted butter or margarine and 2 eggs in large bowl. Stir well with fork until soft dough forms.

With hands, work dry crumbs into dough and make a ball.

Divide dough evenly into 4 parts. Three will become your primary colors, and one will remain white or natural'.
Form a well in center of cookie dough.
Empty 1 color powder into 1 well.
Fold dough around well and work color into cookie dough. This takes a few minutes (and may be a little messy), but colors will become vivid.
Wash hands to remove any color. Repeat with remaining colors.
To make secondary colors, combine two primary colors. See HINTS for details.

HINT: If dough feels sticky, refrigerate for 3 5 minutes.

HINT: Make secondary colors from your primary colors. Add white to make them even brighter!

Red + Yellow = Orange
Blue + Yellow = Green
Blue + Red = Purple

HINT: Color powders made with food-safe color. For best results, wash hands with water and dry with paper towels. Keep off clothing.

Place dough onto lightly floured surface and turn to coat both sides.
Play with your cookie dough. Make cookies every color of the rainbow. Think fish, rockets, and flowers whatever you want!

HINT: Make swirls and create tie-dyed effects. Just mix and mash colors together. Groovy fun!

Bake for 10 minutes.
Bake time will vary depending on the size and thickness of cookie dough. Be sure to monitor cookie creations while baking.

Remove cookies from oven and cool on baking sheet 1 minute.
Move cookie creations to rack and cool completely.

HINT: While it may be tempting to save your sweets, Crayola Rainbow Cookies are best enjoyed the day you make them.
