My brownie stuck to the pan even though I greased and floured it as directed.
Did you let the brownie cool completely before trying to release it from the pan? In addition, running a knife around the edges will help in the future. But don't worry. If you are releasing the brownie to a serving platter to decorate instead of keeping it in the pan, you don't have a problem at all! In actuality, the TOP of the brownie (the smooth surface) is the surface you will be frosting and decorating. Simply put the pieces that stuck to the pan in position on the brownie and cover them with the platter. When you invert the brownie, as directed in the instructions, the pieces that stuck will be hidden and in no way will affect your design.
My brownie needed longer to bake than the directions indicated. Did I do something wrong?
No. Each oven's temperature varies slightly. An easy test for doneness is to stick a toothpick into the center of the brownie. It should be slightly moist, but with no batter sticking.
My brownie rose quickly then sank while baking. What happened?
Did you add the proper amount of water to the mix? Too much water creates a fast rise but uneven descent. Your brownie will still taste wonderful and fudgy.
Do your color gels wash off of skin easily?
Yes. Simply washing with warm water is usually efficient, but adding a bit of dish soap to your hands works well too.
Do your color gels wash off of clothing easily?
They do. As with any other coloring agent, the earlier you can treat the spot the better. Wash the garment as you usually would. Dish soap is a fine alternative to laundry detergent if you are unable to launder the garment immediately. Wearing a smock or apron is recommended so that there is less risk of spotting and you can concentrate on having fun creating.
How do I tint coconut?
Dilute a few drops of color gel with 1 teaspoon water in a large resealable plastic food storage bag. Add about 1 cup of flaked coconut. Close the bag and shake well until the coconut is evenly coated with color.
Is the baking pan in the Create & Eat Brownie kit reusable?
No, the pan is not reusable; it is intended for a single use.
How long will my Crafty Cooking Kit creations last?
We recommend that you eat your designs within 24 hours, as we don't add preservatives to the mixes.
